Jannali's topography means many houses sit well below street level with laundries and bathrooms on the lowest floor. Those fixtures are the first to surcharge when a line blocks downstream.
The older pockets near the station predate most of the Shire. Original clay sewer, lead-jointed in places, and galvanised supply are still common and both are at the end of their service life.
Sandstone sits shallow through much of the suburb, making excavation slow and expensive. It's the single strongest reason to camera the line and reline rather than dig on a Jannali job.

Because water finds the lowest opening. On Jannali's steep split-level blocks the downstairs floor waste or shower is the lowest point in the system, so when the line blocks somewhere downstream that's where it surfaces first — even though the blockage has nothing to do with that bathroom. It's actually useful information: it tells us the problem is in the main line out to the boundary, not the fixture itself.
