The fall to the river puts many Como homes beneath the street main, so waste is pumped rather than gravity-fed. The pump well becomes the single point of failure for the whole property.
Como retains a lot of original weatherboard cottages with subfloor plumbing that's easy to reach but long past its life. Subfloor leaks here often show as rot before they show as water.

It's worth considering, and more so here than almost anywhere else in the Shire. If your house sits below the main, the pump is the only thing preventing a backup — there's no gravity fallback. At minimum you want a working high-level alarm so you know before the well fills. On properties where a backup would be genuinely damaging, a second pump or a battery-backed alarm is cheap relative to what a sewage overflow through a lower floor costs to remediate.
