BLOCKED DRAINS — RELINE
Ninety years of tree roots, one afternoon of relining in Marrickville.
01 — PROJECT OVERVIEW
The owners of a 1930s Marrickville terrace had paid to clear the same blocked sewer four times in two years. Each plumber cleared it and left; nobody had told them why it kept happening.
02 — THE CHALLENGE
CCTV revealed a street fig's roots entering the earthenware sewer at three separate joints under the rear courtyard's brand-new landscaping — every other quote called for a full dig-up that meant demolishing the courtyard.
03 — OUR APPROACH
1High-pressure jet rodding and mechanical root cutting cleared the full 14-metre run.
2The line was surveyed and measured by camera, confirming the earthenware was intact enough to reline.
3A structural liner was inverted through the existing access point and cured in place — a new pipe inside the old one.
4Post-reline CCTV verified a smooth, joint-free bore with nowhere for roots to re-enter.
04 — THE OUTCOME
✓Eighteen months on, zero repeat blockages.
✓Courtyard landscaping untouched — no excavation at all.
