GAS FITTING — COMMERCIAL
A failed gas compliance check, and a kitchen trading again in 48 hours.
01 — PROJECT OVERVIEW
A Liverpool restaurant fitting out a new kitchen failed its gas compliance inspection four days before the planned reopening. The previous installer had sized the appliance run for fewer burners than were actually installed.
02 — THE CHALLENGE
Six appliances were connected to a line that couldn't deliver adequate pressure with everything running, and the isolation arrangement didn't meet requirements. The venue had bookings from the weekend and every day closed was revenue gone.
03 — OUR APPROACH
1Attended the same day the failure notice came through and reviewed the inspector's findings against the actual installation.
2Recalculated the gas load for all six appliances at simultaneous operation and resized the run accordingly.
3Re-piped the appliance line, fitted compliant isolation and pressure-tested the full system.
4Issued the compliance certificate and coordinated directly with the inspector for re-attendance.
04 — THE OUTCOME
✓Passed re-inspection two days after the original failure.
✓Opened on the planned date with no bookings cancelled.
✓Documentation filed so the next inspection is a formality.
✓Owner given a written explanation of what the original installer got wrong.
