01 — PROJECT OVERVIEW

An interwar Lane Cove house had blocked in the same month for four consecutive years. Each time it was cleared, each time nobody looked further, and each time it returned the following winter.

02 — THE CHALLENGE

Sandstone sits close to the surface across the ridge, so a dig-and-replace quote was substantially higher than it would be elsewhere in Sydney — and the line ran directly beneath a mature garden and a sandstone retaining wall the owners wanted untouched.

03 — OUR APPROACH
1Cleared the blockage, then ran a camera the full 22 metres to the boundary rather than stopping at the obstruction.
2Found root intrusion at three joints across an 11-metre stretch, with the remaining pipe structurally sound.
3Mechanically cut the roots and jetted the line back to full bore.
4Inverted a structural liner through the existing access point and cured it in place, forming a joint-free pipe inside the old one.
04 — THE OUTCOME
No excavation, so the garden and the sandstone wall were untouched.
Roughly half the cost of the dig-and-replace quotes the owners had been given.
Two winters on with no recurrence.
Before and after footage handed over for their records.
Every quote before this one started with digging up the garden. Nobody had even put a camera down to see whether that was necessary.
